Most people can achieve business authority if they want to, they just need to create content. Thought leadership is a term that was coined in 1994 by Joel Kurtzman. He talked about the term as referring to people who had business ideas that were worth listening to. With regards to content, if you have an audience, you have authority. If you have an audience, you’re also a leader. With that leadership comes responsibility, you have to get your audience content and share valuable things with them. If you do so, they will come back for more.

Key Takeaways:

  • If you can educate and motivate people with content, you are a thought leader.
  • Anyone can get business success and authority if they really want to, they just have to put effort and capital into it.
  • Leaders aren’t born, they’re selected by a target audience that are enjoying their content.

“In the realm of content marketing, authority is demonstrated, not claimed. Which means leaders are not born or made — they’re selected by the intended audience.”
