The overall trends in social media marketing have indicated several new trends for the upcoming year. With political ads banned on twitter, and discussed in congress, political content has had to evolve to live on several platforms. Instagram has risen through the ranks, edging aside Snapchat and Facebook. Facebook has dabbled in cryptocurrency, but has not succeeded in implementing it. Several other players have begun research into the field. Whichever company breaks through first will have resounding implications for e-commerce.
- Facebook will continue growth in its cryptocurrency, Libra, media streaming, Facebook Watch, and augmented reality platform.
- Twitter will make structural changes to its platform to improve user experience on a social level like its monetizable user daily active users mDAU.
- LinkedIn will expand its tools to group work and networking modeling adjacent platforms like Google, Skype, and Slack.
