Facebook has recently introduced a new type of ad targeting that is based on the average household income by US ZIP code. It allows an advertiser to target their ads based on if a user’s income falls in a specific percentage. This will allow more catering to the perceived products and needs in each income bracket. It does not allow specific dollar amounts but things like top five percent, 10 percent, and others. The data is based off of public information and must comply with Facebook’s non-discrimination policies.
- Advertisers on facebook can now be able to target facebook users based on the zip code and their income levels.
- The new ad feature is creative because it will help advertisers to market and target ads to people within certain income brackets and also customize their ads.
- Facebook notes that while implementing the new ad feature, the zip codes were based on public information and it protects people’s privacy.
“The new targeting feature was brought to Marketing Land’s attention via a Tweet by Facebook ad expert and president of AKvertise social media marketing agency, Akvile DeFazio.”
